MOTHS FLUTTER IN THE HAZE - Mixed Media
Catching a moth in a single bound.
I created a bit of an unearthly look in this artwork with the colours of the landscape in the night - brilliant teal greens and a pinkish moon. I wanted the phascogale to pop out from the page, so I was conscious of the highlights and shadows in every corner of this picture.
I was really enamoured by this sweet creature that is so little known in Australian popular culture. This painting is one of the artworks I created for children’s book “Snuggled Away” written by Cate Storey. Hopefully by being featured in this book, more people are away of the phascogale and will fight to protect them and their habitat.
Brush Tailed Phascogale with Emperor Gum Moth.
Acrylic, posca pens and conte on 230gsm textured art paper. Unframed, requires framing.
Size: A3 - 42cm (W) x 30cm (H)
Or 16.5 in (W) x 11.81 in (H)
