  • The main things are to pick the size you want (A4, A3 or A2), photos to work from (if it’s not done from life) and any colours you want in it and materials you like such as paint, pencil or pastel etc.

    If you’re not sure what that all means, just pick a couple of Sarah’s artworks that you really love as this will give her an indication of your style and preferences. Check out our commissions page for more details.

  • Commissions involve lengthy conversations with the client about their style, what they like of Sarah’s work, colours they would like used etc. Sarah studies all the photographs you have supplied to create a harmonious composition. During the process, there may be more questions she needs to ask you and ultimately it is your decision if the artwork is finished or needs final tweaks. The nature of a commission and its collaborative elements, add many more hours of work, so that is reflected in the price.

  • Please allow up to 6 weeks for your commission to be completed. However if you require your portrait urgently, contact me with your required date and I will do my best to accomodate.

  • Yes! Commissions are welcome worldwide. Sarah can work from photos and she will send you photos of your artwork to confirm you are happy with it before it is finalised and sent to you. Check out my commissions page for more info.

  • You can commision artworks including:

    * Family portraits of adults and children.

    * Babies - sleeping or feeding.

    * Figurative pregnancy portraits.

    * Bride & groom/wedding images - including of the wedding gown and bouquet.

    * Boudoir (lingerie) or nude figurative portraits.

    Please feel free to contact Sarah about a commission, even if the subject isn’t listed here.

  • Sarah Matsuda Art Prints are all individually signed by the artist. They are not numbered and are open edition. This enables us to keep the pricing reasonable, as limited edition prints would cost more.

  • Always handle with freshly washed hands and avoid touching the surface as much as possible. Prints and original works on paper are best framed behind glass for longevity and kept away from direct sunlight.

    Artworks on canvas have been coated with a matt, waterproof varnish and can be dusted lightly with a clean cloth as necessary.

  • No, currently none of my artworks arrive framed.

    Canvas paintings on a wooden stretcher will arrive ready to hang, unframed. You can have them framed by a professional framer if you choose to do so, however this is not necessary.

    Prints and original works on paper will need to be framed behind glass. All prints are created in standard sizes in Australia, so you can buy a ready made, very affordable frame easily.

  • I work with a range of media - we call this mixed media. Materials include: acrylic paint, pastels, conte pencils, lead pencil, copic pens etc. I work on both paper and canvas. If you prefer a particular medium, let me know when you are commissioning an artwork so that I can keep this in mind.
