Finding Balance in Art and Motherhood
Recently another Mama reached out to me to ask how I have been able to find balance and nourish myself and my art practice while being a Mother.
Life doesn’t stop for the muse, and it certainly doesn’t slow down to accommodate those sacred hours of uninterrupted creativity. For me, finding this balance has been an evolving process.
30 Reasons to Buy a Painting - an Exhibition by Robyn Bauer
My Mother, artist Robyn Bauer is holding an exhibition of 30 small paintings at the end of this month. These small paintings have been painted entirely from life and are of local scenes in Brisbane including Paddington and the Botanical Gardens at Mt Cootha.

A new children’s book, Sunny Finds His Song, shines a spotlight on the Critically Endangered Regent Honeyeater. This is the third collaboration between author Cate Storey and illustrator Sarah Matsuda, and the first children’s book by co-author Penny Watson.
Book Release and Solo Exhibition - “Sunny Finds His Song”
Our new children’s book “Sunny Finds His Song” will be launched on Friday 30th August, 6pm at the Robyn Bauer Studio Gallery in Brisbane.
Written by Cate Storey & Penny Watson & illustrated by Sarah Matsuda.
In conjunction with the book launch, will be Sarah Matsuda’s second solo exhibition featuring the hand painted illustrations from the book.

Bush Kindy - Reading the Perfect Hollow
During our recent events at Brisbane City Council's Environmental Education Centres, we were delighted to meet several young fans of The Perfect Hollow who knew the story by heart. One child even amazed us by reciting the entire text alongside our reading!
It's incredibly touching to see how this story about Australia's greater glider and the importance of quality habitat with tree hollow homes is resonating with children.
Highlights from Our Artist Secrets Event
Thank you to those attendants of my first Artist Talk two weeks ago! The energy on the night was warm and jovial. Champagne & cheese was savoured.
My Mother Robyn Bauer and myself spoke about some of the deeper aspects of our art making practices & took the opportunity to guide visitors around the gallery to revisit various art series and share poignant anecdotes about some pieces.
