The platypus is the star of this image, but I did have so much fun painting the rippling water in those beautiful turquoises and blue-greens as well. This illustration is one of the artworks I created for children’s book “Snuggled Away” written by Cate Storey.
I really wanted to convey the movement and splashing as the platypus dived into the water. Australia is home to such incredibly diverse mammals, but the platypus with it’s electroreception abilities, is quite profound.
