Stone-curlews cry their haunting song.
Stone curlews dancing in the moonlight. Many people have a fond appreciation for this bird with it’s wide eyed stare. It’s so common in urban parks and gardens.
This painting is one of the artworks I created for children’s book “Snuggled Away” written by Cate Storey. Getting the habitat accurate for the curlew, but keeping it an interesting composition was a challenge, but with texture and colour and such poised birds I feel we can all get a sense of the beauty of these feathered creatures.
